Blue Cheese Pecan Dip - Setting a Romantic Mood
Nothing sets a romantic mood like the smell of warm cheese.
Fans of The Great North might remember Beef saying this at the meat auction/singles mixer, and honestly, I think it deserves to be immortalized on the walls of The Russian Restaurant.
Cheese is a wonder food. It can take so many forms, can be found in so many things, can make everything delicious. This recipe for blue cheese pecan dip is pretty delicious in my opinion and might be a step out of your usual cheese comfort zone. So if you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous for your upcoming romantic celebrations, this might just make the perfect appetizer.
Blue Cheese Pecan Dip
Ingredients
1 block (8 oz) cream cheese
5 oz of blue cheese crumbles (or you could always crumble it yourself)
1/2 cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella
~2 Tbsp of heavy cream (could need a bit more or less, depending on the moisture levels of your cheese)
3/4 cup pecans
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350° F.
Spread your pecans into a single layer on a sheet pan. Toast for about 5 minutes in the preheated oven. Watch them to make sure that they don’t burn. Remove from the oven, and chop them once they have cooled enough to handle.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, blue cheese, mozzarella, and toasted pecans. Add enough heavy cream (or other milk/milk substitute) to bring the mixture together. It will be pretty thick.
Transfer the mixture into a baking dish. Heat in the oven for 15 minutes. If you want a little extra browning on top, you can put it under the broiler for 1-3 minutes.
Serve with your choice of accompaniments for dipping: we used strawberries, pretzel rods, crackers, and baby carrots. Broccoli, green peppers, and tomatoes would go wonderfully as well.
