The Many Crafts of the Letter X

Traditional cross stitch is lovely. But have you ever wondered what else is out there, beyond the kits that you might see on your grandmother’s end table? Wondered if there were patterns that bring the art into the next generation and how else you can use the skill of perfecting the letter X?

If you have, then you’re in the right place!

I’ve loved cross stitch for years, and I’ve even taught my friends (or anyone else that would listen) to love the craft as well. But I’m an artist of many interests and much curiosity. I love to look at the world around me and think “What if?” and “Why not?”

And so was born The Craft Xperimentalist. On this website, you can check out all of my new and wild ideas. There will be new cross stitch patterns for sure, ones that explore new threads, new themes, new techniques. But you also might find that I’ve tried to incorporate cross stitch into a painting, or maybe I’ve used some random household items to create a totally new and weird form of cross stitch. Who knows what will happen next?

I’d love for you to join me in my xploration and xperiments. Follow along here on the website or one (or all!) of the social media accounts. Be sure to share your xperiments as well by tagging The Craft Xperimentalist or using #craftxperiment when you post. Let’s get xperimenting!

More About Me

Well, my name is Cameron. I’m sure that you’ve noticed that there are a lot of LGBTQIA+ patterns on here; and that’s because that’s part of who I am. I think representation and celebration of who we are as individuals is important. It is an honor to design patterns that symbolize community and love.

Other things I love include physics (I went to school for that for a loooong time, and I’d maybe like to go back someday to finish that PhD), Disney (especially Winnie the Pooh and WDW), plants and trees, my little Shadow (pictured above), dogs in general, food, colorful things…

Thanks for letting me share my art with you!
